Former Coventry City midfielder Michael Doyle will retain the captains armband at Sheffield United.

Doyle had been the captain last season but The Blades are under new management with David Weir and former City midfielder/Coach/Caretaker Manager Lee Carsley.

David Weir is quoted as saying:  "There's not really a situation (with the captaincy) as far as I'm concerned.

"Michael Doyle has been the captain. Michael has been great ever since I came in.

"He was the captain and he still is the captain and I'm more than happy with him.

"He's been great in all of the pre-season games, he's been great around the place so I've got no reason to change it."
