Doyle could return
New manager to decide Michael Doyle,currently on loan at Leeds United, has been told that he can return to Coventry if he wants to, but that his future is in the hands of the, yet to be named new manager. Doyle lost his regular first team place when Sammy Clingan joined the Sky Blues in 2009, he moved to Elland Road in search of regular first team football and was pivotal in gaining promotion back to the Championship for Leeds. The 28 year old Doyle has repeatedly said he would like to make his move to Yorkshire permanent. The Leeds manager Simon Grayson also wants to keep the feisty Irish midfielder as he rebuilds his squad for the coming Championship campaign. Coventry City chairman Ray Ranson said of Doyle, “I spoke to Michael’s agent the other day and he has indicated that they want to take him. He has done well at Leeds where he worked with a new manager and enjoyed a fresh start." "If he has to come back that’s fine. He is a good player with a proven Championship record and if he wants a fresh challenge here then the door is open.” Doyle joined Coventry City in 2003 from Celtic on the recommendation of Gary McAllister's assistant Eric Black. He made 247 appearances for the club before his loan move to Leeds and scores 10 goals. He has yet to score for Leeds. Doyle spoke about his time at Coventry and his relationship with former manager Chris Coleman. He said, “I have got another year left on my contract at Coventry but I hope to get something sorted up here in the summer." “I had a chat with Chris Coleman last season and he was great with me. He told me he wanted to freshen things up and it was hard for me to leave because Coventry have been a great club for me and it is where I call home in a way, and I am sure I will settle back in the area eventually." “I have got no bitterness to the club or anyone there and if I end up going back next season I will get my head down and work hard to play. The hard thing for me over the last seven years has been not being able to challenge but I am sure they will." "I will never say a bad word about the club and I am more than willing to go back if that’s what the manager wants.” Doyle's immediate future will be decided by the man Ray Ranson appoints as his new manager and on the size of the fee. Leeds will be reluctant to part with too much money for the player and Doyle is in full agreement. He said, “If Leeds want me I am hoping Coventry won’t ask too much for me because I would like to kick-start my career at Elland Road.”
