Diamond Club Meeting report The Coventry City Diamond Club celebrated Ascot at its quarterly lunch today. Close to 200 members and guests, many dressed in their Ascot best with some wonderful hats on display, enjoyed an excellent lunch before listening to the guest speakers which today were Nicholas Dimbley, Dietmar Bruck and referee Kevin Friend. Nicholas Dimbleby, the sculptor of the Jimmy Hill statue which will be unveiled in July 27th, spoke about the state which is currently being cast in bronze. Former Player Dietmar Bruck spoke about his work at community champion as Tescos, which is heavily involved with schools, charities and the George Elliott Hospital in Nuneaton. Referee Kevin Friend said that he was back in training. A full time professional, he has fitness tests in July and only had two week offs. He has had three seasons in the Premier League and refereed 38 games last season including 19 games in the top flight as well as games as a fourth official. He favours Loftus Road as a stadium due to its atmosphere and Mr Friend who believes that referees should stay out of the way in matches, said  that every game is a massive one. Being Ascot Day, the members endulged in some fun money free betting on the three main races which were shown on a big screen in the Legends Lounge at the Ricoh Arena. There was a first for the Diamond Club when five people had two winners in the three races, all of whom will receive a bottle of champagne. Winners of the Best Hat Competition were Maureen Smith and Mauren O'Neill who had their hats chosen by Lol Harvey and Brian Nicholas.
