Leon McKenzie Starts His Boxing Career

Former Coventry City forward Leon McKenzie will face Czech opposition when he has his maiden fight on Saturday.

McKenzie, having retired from football and had a spell in prison, is following in the sport that his father Clinton and uncle Duke excelled in, when he takes to the ring in the Steve Goodwin promotion at York Hall in Bethnall Green on Saturday in a four rounder.

He will be up against 31-year-old Czech boxer Vladimir Fecko and said to Liam Happe; “Training has gone to plan and I’m in really good shape. “The best shape of my life, to be honest.

“It is important to get the rounds in, but it depends on how the fight goes and also my opponent.

“No disrespect to him, but if I get a chance to knock him out I will take it and of course he will be trying to do the same.”
