Coventry City defender Martin Cranie has will be out of action for up to a month after the latest scans on his injured ribs showed he has a fracture.
Earlier scans did not show any signs of a fracture so it was concluded he had bad bruising, but the deeper, more detailed scans done after the player complained about the level of discomfort proved otherwise.
The normal time frame for this type of injury to heal is about four weeks.
City boss Andy Thorn, who is already having to contend with an ever lengthening injury list, told the CT, “It’s disappointing because it means he’s going to be out for a while.
Several players will undergo late fitness tests before Saturday's home game against Nottingham Forest will include, club captain Sammy Clingan (back), strikers Gary McSheffrey and Roy O’Donovan and goalkeeper Joe Murphy.
