Coventry struggling for numbers for Northampton clash

Coventry boss Tony Mowbray is down to the bare bones against Northampton.

Loanees Adam Armstrong and Ryan Kent are not available under the terms of their deals from Newcastle and Liverpool while Romain Vincelot is suspended.

Reda Johnson (hamstring), James Maddison (ankle) and Jordan Willis (knee) are all out long-term with skipper Johnson not expected back this season.

But Conor Thomas and Marc-Antoine Fortune could return and on-loan Aston Villa midfielder Joe Cole is available.

Northampton could be without Joel Byrom and Ryan Cresswell for the clash. Byrom suffered a hip problem in the 2-2 draw at Newport last weekend while Cresswell has been sidelined with a groin injury sustained in the win over Carlisle in October.

Assistant boss Alan Knill said: "Joel has had a tight hip and that's why he came off on Saturday. It got gradually worse during the game and whether he will be fit for the weekend we're not quite sure.

"We won't know until just before the game and the same really applies to Ryan Cresswell. Ryan is progressing well, he's started doing some running again, which is great, but we will have to see how he comes through."

The Cobblers have been handed a boost with the imminent return of Ricky Holmes, who is now working with a ball in training having not played since August.
