Coventry Pub Gets Licence Suspended After World Cup Trouble

Pub temporarily closed. The Glasshouse bar in Coventry has had its licence temporarily suspended after trouble following England's World Cup game with Slovenia on Wednesday.Speaking to the CT, a spokesman for Coventry City Council said: "Coventry Police applied for a summary review of the licence following ongoing evidence of crime and disorder at the premises and a lack of management control."Matters were brought to a head by incidents which happened at the bar following the England football match on Wednesday"The bar in the Bull Yard in Town will now have to wait for a full public review hearing at the Council House within the next 28 days to hear if they will be allowed to re-open.Police, who did not comment on the problems at the Glasshouse, apart from a statement from Police Licensing Inspector Dayle Speed saying that: "maintaining public safety is of paramount importance and due to the increasing number of incidents of disorder associated with these premises, it was necessary to take decisive action", have already said that anyone involved in trouble during World Cup matches risks facing a banning order which will prevent them from attending matches.
