Coventry out to remind Bothroyd about 'bully boy' comment
Sky Blues boss delighted with outburst When Cardiff City visited The Ricoh back in October, former Coventry player, Jay Bothroyd now at Cardiff wrote on his Twitter page that Coventry were 'bully boys' Coventry City travel to Cardiff on Boxing Day and manager Aidy Boothroyd is set to remind Bothroyd about his comments. “Maybe we’ll remind Jay about that on Boxing Day,” said Boothroyd. Bothroyd has recovered from a hamstring strain and should be fit to face Coventry. He scored the late winner in October that sent Coventry to a 2-1 defeat. When he arrived back in Cardiff late that night, he wrote on Twitter, “I ****ing hate playing Coventry. They should put up rugby posts. Coventry tried to bully us.” The Coventry boss then thanked the Cardiff striker for his comments, saying, “We want to make it awful for visiting teams and I want them getting on the bus thinking we are a tough team." " I’m glad Jay said that. I am delighted because I think that is a mark of respect. Come Boxing Day perhaps we will remind him of that comment in the right way.” Bothroyd is Cardiff's current top scorer having netted 15 goals and is one of three former Coventry players who could player against their former employers on Boxing Day, Cardiff captain Craig Bellamy and Peter Whittingham being the others. Coventry will be without the services of Aron Gunnarsson who will start a three game ban for being sent off against Norwich City last week., Cardiff City’s ticket office was forced to close yesterday because of the extreme weather conditions.The ground staff are working hard to try and ensure the ground will be ready for Boxing Day.
