Coventry City v Norwich City past records

16 December 2010 15:35
Head to head Coventry City's next opponents at The Ricoh are Norwich City. One point separates the two teams in the Championship, both teams are on a good run of form and they are both in the promotion hunt. Previous games between the two clubs have often resulted in goal fests, but at home Coventry City have the upper hand. The clubs have met a total of 96 times with Coventry winning 44, Norwich winning 24 and 28 ending in draws. Coventry City have played Norwich 49 times at home (46 times at Highfield Road and 3 at the Ricoh Arena) of which Coventry have won 36 times, Norwich have won just three times and there have bee 10 draws. The Sky Blues have netted five goals in two of the games. The first time was on Christmas eve 1955 when Coventry won 5-3 and the second time was on 27th December 1977 when Coventry won a thriller 5-4. Norwich have scored the biggest wins though with a 6-2 win in April 1932 and a massive 10-2 win in March 1930. Coventry City have not conceded a goal in four games and are keen to extend this barren run for their opposition for a few more games yet and hope to break the 75 year old record of not conceding a goal in six games. Coventry City goalkeeper Kieren Westwood has not conceded  a goal for 396 minutes and if he manages to keep another clean sheet for his team, it will equal the record of five clean sheets set under Roland Nilsson October 2001. To give Norwich City fans a glimmer of hope, they have not lost two game in a row since their current manager Paul Lambert took over the reins and they lost to Portsmouth last week. Like Coventry City, Norwich City have also  laid to rest some away hoodoos this season, Again, just like Coventry, Norwich won away at Bristol City for the first time in 30 years and they put four goals past their local rivals Ipswich Town for the first time in their history. Traditionally this has been an entertaining fixture, especially for the neutrals, with lots of goals  and the signs are good for another exciting game on Saturday.
