Coventry City and King holding talks
Deal could be announced later in week. Disgraced striker Marlon King, according to Mirror Sport, is in negotiations with Coventry City boss Aidy Boothroyd about a possible deal to bring King to The Ricoh. King was released from prison last month after serving nine months of an 18 month sentence for sexual assault, but King vows to clear his name claiming the assault was never a sexual one. The 30 year old striker was sacked by his former club Wigan after his conviction and is available on a Bosman free transfer to any club wishing to offer the striker a deal. King played some of his best football at Watford while under the management of current City boss Boothroyd and the two do have a history of working well together. The issue surrounding whether the club should sign King is a contentious one with some supporters in favour of signing what amounts to a £5m rated, proven striker for free and to give him a second chance, while others feel it would be morally wrong to sign a man convicted of over a dozen offences over a period of years. On a recent poll on this site 61% of those who voted were not in favour of signing King with 39% in favour.
