Ball earns all three points for Fleetwood

A wonder strike from David Ball gave Fleetwood a 2-1 away win at promotion-chasing Coventry.

The visitors took the lead 11 minutes after the restart when Ball's right-wing cross was judged perfectly for Wes Burns who was able to head home the opening goal.

Fleetwood may have been expecting to weather a Coventry storm after Marcus Tudgay had come off the bench to score in the 75th minute after Maddison, Adam Armstrong and Jacob Murphy had failed to make chances count for the home side.

For a while it looked that way for Fleetwood, managed by former Coventry boss Steven Pressley, before Ball drove in the winner seven minutes from time. The 26-year-old picked up the ball and fired in from range in the 83rd minute to seal victory for his side.

The victory ended Fleetwood's run of 10 away matches in all competitions without a win and moved them on to 36 points.
