Josh Morris fires Scunthorpe to win at Coventry

Josh Morris bagged his 14th goal of the season as League One leaders Scunthorpe picked up a 1-0 win at Coventry.

The midfielder's neat near-post finish in the 55th minute ended the home side's seven-game unbeaten run.

Paddy Madden got to the Coventry byline and cut the ball back, with Morris on hand to turn it home past Lee Burge.

Coventry had enjoyed the better of the first half but could not turn some decent possession into anything tangible.

Andre Wright had two shots blocked in quick succession and the threatening Marvin Sordell saw a long-range effort well saved by Luke Daniels.

The leaders started the second half with far more purpose and Morris's strike put them firmly in control.

They had defender Conor Townsend to thank when, with 14 minutes left, he produced a stunning block to deny Jamie Sterry what looked a certain goal.

Substitute Ruben Lumeiras went closest to levelling for the home side when he had to watch a close-range effort roll just past the far post.
