Coleman: We have got nothing to give a lap of honour for

We will walk into the middle of the pitch and say thank you to the fans Coventry City boss Chris Coleman has ruled out his team doing a lap of honour at the conclusion of the season after Sunday's home game against Watford. In previous years the team have done a lap of honour to say goodbye to the fans before they leave for their summer break, but this year Coleman says they have little to celebrate, so there will be no lap of honour. Coleman has said the players will go into the centre circle and thank the fans for sticking with them throughout a frustrating season. Coleman said, “For me, I am not for all the end-of-season dinners and laps of honour,” he said ahead of Sunday’s match against Watford and Monday’s awards evening. We have got nothing to give a lap of honour for." "We will walk into the middle of the pitch and say thank you to the fans and clap them but, for me, you have end-of-season dinners for getting promotion or winning a cup. It is fine for the supporters but I can’t say that I am pro that because you should only do it when you have got something to shout about.” With City currently on 54 points, the same total they finished last season on, they will be looking to win and add the three points to finish the season with a grand total of 57 points “If we win we can still finish mid-table-ish, which is better than scrapping for our lives in a relegation battle,” said a frustrated Coleman. “We haven’t had big crowds and have lost a few fans but whatever fans we have got we have got to say thank you to them for following us through good and bad, and I will be on the pitch saying thank you as well. "But it is us saying thank you to them rather than the other way round because they will be here a long time after me, the chairman and the players because they stay with their club.”
