Coleman Wants To Set The Record Straight
City boss speaks Coventry City manager Chris Coleman used his programme notes for yesterday's game against Queens Park Rangers to put the record straight about matters he felt had been blown out of all proportions.Writing in the programme, the City manager said; "I won't get carried away about one win because there is still a lot of work to do but there appears to be talk about formations, Leon Best leaving, and one or two matters that I feel have been blown out of all proportions due to some negative headlines and I would like to set the record straight."We have great supporters here at Coventry City who have followed a team that has had very little to cheer about in the last eight or nine years outside the Premier League."The fact that you are still right behind this club and want it to move in the right direction is a testament to every single supporter and we cannot thank you enough for the time and money you give to watching the team you love."If we could get the club moving up the table towards promotion any quicker, we would do it - of course we would all like to be higher in the league but I feel we are making steady progress and everyone here is straining at the leash to move the club into the Premier League."I knew when I took this job on that we were not going to be spending hundreds of millions of pounds in the transfer market and the clear objective was the long term build on stable foundations and not to ever again put the long term future of the club in jeopardy."In an era when there seems to be one club after another in court because of debt issues, I am proud to say that Coventry City has no outstanding liabilities."If that policy was at the expense of any progress on the pitch, it may be a different matter but if you start looking at the starting eleven and the players who came off the bench for on Tuesday night versus Forest, compared with the side (and the huge squad we inherited two years ago) it is much better and continuing to improve."We are all working extremely hard to further strengthen the squad to give us a chance of a strong end of season and again, we have a policy of looking longer term and not settling for a quick fix."Picture copyright of Covsupport News Service.
