Coleman: Don't expect too much

Boss' Message to the fans, we are not Brazil Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has welcomed the increase in numbers of fans watching his team, but has issued a stark warning to those who have returned to the fold not to expect too much from the team. The Sky Blues took 3,000 fans to last week's away game at Peterborough and are expecting Saturday's gate to be around 20,000 for the visit of relegation threatened Plymouth Argyle. Coleman said,  “My message to the supporters who are going to turn up because they haven’t seen us for a while is don’t think you are going to be coming to watch Brazil or Arsenal, or that type of football, because if they do then they are going to be disappointed." “What they will find is a team of players who are battling with everything they have got to get a result, and trying their best to keep pushing the teams above them, and we can’t ask more than that. We have been playing good, strong and effective football and that’s why we have been winning games and I hope that doesn’t change whether we are playing top of the league or bottom, or in front of 30,000 supporters or 10,000, our football stays the same. “The general feeling is positive among the fans and whatever crowd we get against Plymouth will be bigger than normal because of the time of year.” Recent results back up Mr Coleman's comments, most of which have ended up with 1-0 scores after hard work on the pitch. Coleman has bee content to grind out hard fought 1-0's, but freely admits he would like winning margins to be greater. He said, “To save the lads’ legs, yes, a couple more goals would be nice because at 1-0 you are going until the last minute really. Sometimes if you are two or three up teams can die in the last 15 minutes because they are thinking the game is done, but it shows a hell of a lot of character to keep winning 1-0." “I spoke to Gary Johnson a couple of years ago when Bristol City ended up in the play-offs and their goal difference was zero because they kept winning 1-0 and he said the team spirit was fantastic, and that shows the sign of a good team to keep winning 1-0. I am not going to be picky because if we keep winning 1-0 we keep getting three points, end of story.”
