Ex City boss on Sheffield United managerial appointement Former Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has backed new Sheffield United boss Gary Speed. The Welshman was appointed yesterday after Kevin Blackwell was sacked/ left by mutual consent on Saturday after the Blades 3-0 defeat to QPR.Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Chris Coleman, who has been friends with Speed for a long time, said: "Gary has got honesty and integrity in abundance and they go a long way in the game. He's had a superb career as a player and he's accumulated a lot of knowledge as a coach so I'm sure he's going to do well."Gary tells it how it is and he doesn't stand for any nonsense but that's because he's a dedicated professional. Because of what he's achieved in the game he's going to immediately have the respect of the boys in the dressing room. Although being able to put medals on the table doesn't bring any guarantees, it certainly helps at the start."Gary is a man's man and he'll want to do things his own way. "He deserves his chance and, as far as I'm concerned, Sheffield United have done exactly the right thing. "Gary's not got where he has in this business by doing things by half. I know him well and he throws himself completely into everything. "He's meticulous in his work and that type of approach should serve him well."Gary will be well prepared and he's got to added advantage of knowing the boys he's got at his disposal."But I hope people give him time. "If they do that then I know he'll do well."MPUMinCharsCutOff:210 PageLength:3538MPUPositionFromStart:250 MPUPositionRange:1000hasVideoOrImage:False -->Picture copyright of Covsupport News Service.
