Clingan Plays For Northern Ireland

10 August 2011 21:37
International action for Clingan Coventry City captain Sammy Clingan played the whole game for Northern Ireland tonight in the Euro 2012 Qualifying 4-0 victory against the Faroe Islands. At Windsor Park in Belfast, Clingan took the corner which was eventually banged in to the net by Arron Hughes to put the Ulstermen ahead in the fifth minute. Clingan went on to have a good game despite needing treatment after a 51st minute challenge and in the 66th minute, Northern Ireland increased their lead against the side managed by former Coventry City scout Brian Kerr, when Steve Davies neatly finished off a good move. Four minutes later, Pat McCourt finished off a one-two for Northern Ireland's third goal and with two minutes left, McCourt danced round the Faroes team before beating the keeper with a delicate chip to give Northern Ireland, their 600th goal in international football and a 4-0 victory.
