Clingan injury concern ahead of Hull game

Gardner should be fit.

Beleaguered Coventry City boss Andy Thorn is waiting to learn if he will have his captain Sammy Clingan fit to face in form Hull City at The Ricoh tomorrow.

Clingan has a foot injury, but as yet the extent of it is unknown. It is not a serious injury, but could mean the influential midfielder mises the important game.

Striker Gary Gardner, on loan from Aston Villa, looks to have recovered from an ear infection, he returned to training midweek and should be fit to play.

Gardner, who is on loan until January, has been subject to speculation that he will be recalled to Villa Park to act as cover for the injured Jermaine Jenas, but Thorn insists that there is a clause in the deal that prevent recall until the loan period is over.

Whether he will be able to extend his stay at The Ricoh is unclear at the moment, but Thorn is known to want to negotiate an extension to keep Gardner until the end of the season.

Thorn said, “We’d love to keep him but he’s their player and we’ll deal with the situation when it arises.”
