City's woes and the run in to end of the season

Tough time gone, but they don't get any easier Coventry City are a club in turmoil, having lost form and confidence on the field and have dropped from promotion contenders to relegation candidates in less than three months. Their manager has been sacked and their chairman and vice chairman  have both resigned. The club is losing between £4 and £6m a year and according to their new chairman came within two days of going into administration last week. To top it all off, the club is under a transfer embargo and was raided by the tax man last week as they attempted to seize assets to help cover the unpaid PAYE bill. Coventry City are in 20th place in the Championship table, three places and seven points above the drop zone and are fighting for their Championship status. With eight games of the season remaining, City need at least ten points to guarantee survival. The club desperately need new investment, but to attract new money it is vital for them to stay in the division. Three points against Watford, which will be no easy task,  on Saturday will be a welcome boost, not only to the meagre points tally, but to the long suffering City support as well as giving the players a huge boost to their confidence. Coventry have an interesting run in to the end of the season so early points are vital. City have four home games left and four away games. They start on Saturday against Watford who are just four points outside the play off places. Then come two away games at Derby and then Portsmouth. Derby have a poor home record this season, winning only 7 of their 19 home games, but Portsmouth ave lost just four games at Fratton Park. Then they entertain Millwall who beat City early in the season at The New Den followed by Scunthorpe, currently bottom but one in the table. Then comes a trip to Middlesbrough followed by the final home game of the season against Reading. Coventry's last game of the season is away at promotion chasing Norwich and if they need points to secure automatic promotion, that could be a very dangerous game if City also need points to stay up and so they will be desperate to have secured their Championship status before the last game of the season.
