Against a strong City side, Chelsea had two attacks but City went the closest first when Arron Phillips started and finshed a move which saw him sent a diving header over in the 12th minute. Chelsea struck the bar from an over hit cross from the right. In the 21st minute, Jonson Harris- Clarke attacked down the left and was brought down by Chelsea keeper Mitchell Beeney for a penalty which Billy Daniels dispatched to put the Sky Blues ahead. The lead was to last for seven minutes as Phillip Prosenilk was allowed space in the area to beat Lee Burge with a right footed drive. Chelsea were quick on the break but the likes of the capable Phillips, Henderson, Jordan Willis and man of the match Alex Donald stuck to their task. Reuben Loftus Cheet found some freedon on the left hand side of the area to put the visitors ahead in the 36th minute but straight from the kick off, the Sky Blues fashioned a superb move that ended with Jonson Harris-Clarke diving to force the ball home from three yards. The frenetic pace continued in a second half which saw wind and rain. Both sides put in plenty of work with Daniels, Ruffles, Roberts and Garner all busy for the Sky Blue cause. Lee Burge made a good save in the 62nd minute to push over a Swift shot for a corner. In the 72nd minute, City were back in front when Jonson Harris-Clarke got his head to a free kick and sent the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Burge made a cracking save two minutes after the goal and then caught a curler from the impressive Troy Kane. City were denied a fourth goal in the 87th minute when substitute Lewis Rankin got in an acute angle shot which Beeny pushed over the bar for a corner and had to settle for a 3-2 victory.
