City to step up

Manager Aidy Boothroyd is ready to take his Coventry side to the next level in their preparations for the forthcoming Championship campaign. The Sky Blues chief, taking charge of his first pre-season at the helm, has so far rotated his players in the club`s two previous friendlies to date - disappointing goalless draws against Nuneaton and Hinckley. But as City prepare to take on a Northampton side boasting former Sky Blues left-back Marcus Hall on Wednesday night, Boothroyd believes the time is right to up the ante ahead of the big kick-off on August 7. "It`s important now that we start getting the players used to 90 minutes again," he told the club`s official website. "We had them on an hour and half-hour rotations for the first two friendlies so all of the lads could gradually get some minutes under their belt. "Now we will up that work rate and I will pick a team that will give respect to Northampton because they are a good side and it will be a tough game away from home. "We will will go there and make sure we concentrate on digging in and getting a result."
