City To Run Fit For Life In Coventry Primary Schools
City involved in Fit For Life Initiative Coventry City’s Sky Blues In The Community is launching a Fit for Life initiative in October. The initiative in association with Coventry University and funded by the Football League Trust involves City coaches along with students from the Town based University delivering a 10 week multi-sport and health awareness curriculum to year five pupils in primary schools in Coventry over the next three years. The project focuses on improving children’s fundamental movement skills through multi-sport activity and giving them messages on eating and living healthily and providing interactive information on how the body works, and the benefits of exercise. The initiative, which has been designed in association with Coventry University and funded by a grant from the Football League Trust, consists of a ten week multi-sport and health awareness curriculum which will be rolled out to year five pupils in every primary school in Coventry over the next three years. The project focuses on improving the fundamental movement skills of children through multi-sport activity, whilst at the same time delivering messages on eating and living healthily and providing interactive information Sky Blues in the Community Manager Dave Busst said to the club website: "We are delighted to have been successful in obtaining this funding. "Sport in general is a massive draw for children and young people, and with the help of Coventry University we will be combining participation in sport, with developing an understanding of how the body works and need to make healthy choices. "The grant from the Football League Trust means we can deliver this to every primary school in Coventry, which will allow us to promote the healthy lifestyles message to hundreds of kids across Coventry."
