Dunn expected to join Sky Blues Coventry City are set to sing the young Northampton Town goalkeeper Chris Dunn later today. Coventry made a formal offer for the out of contract 'keeper last week and even though he is available on a Bosman free transfer, a development fee will be payable to the Cobblers. With the departure of Kieren Westwood to Sunderland, City need a replacement goal keeper, but they are still likely to chase the signature of the out of contract Scunthorpe 'keeper Joe Murphy as well. Northampton Town manager Gary Johnson said, “It’s a good move for him. It’s a Championship club and when you get to the age of 24 you have to start looking at how far your career is going to go." “He feels Tim Flowers has helped him a lot here and he’s got to carry on that progress to make sure he’s in the team at Coventry. It’s not much fun getting to that level and not being in the first team. " "You’ve got to believe in your ability and that you can compete with the other players that are there. The only problem for goalkeepers is that sometimes you can be a No.2 somewhere and be in that position for five years, but you have to make that move and then work hard to make it work for you.” Dunn suffered a bad cut in the game at Bury near the end of last season and required 14 stitches, but he regained his place in the side quickly and wore a rugby style scrum cap to protect the injury. Johnson added, “He gave good service to me in the short time I was here. He came good right at the end when it looked like he wasn’t going to play again."
