Former Coventry City Ladies defender Laura Bassett played for Birmingham City Ladies as they progressed to the last sixteen of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
A crowd of 316 at Stratford Town’s DCS Stadium saw Chelsea Weston scored in the 50th minute to give Birmingham a 4-0 aggregate win over PK-35 Vantaa from Finland.
Former City Ladies players Emily Simpkins and Chris Torkildsen were on the bench for a Birmingham City side which included former Coventry City Girls player Karen Carney.
Birmingham now face Russian side FC Zorky in the next round with the first leg to be played on November 9th/10th and November 13th/14th.
