Former Coventry City youngster Mark Noon has been given assurances by Nuneaton Town that he will be able to get games in a bid to help his fitness and have a chance to win a new deal at the Conference Premier club.

Noon, a coach with Coventry City's Academy, broke his leg in a pre-season game for Nuneaton at Brackley Town last July and but is coming to the end of his contract at Liberty Way.

Speaking to Daniel Smith, Nuneaton Town manager Kevin Wilkin said:“First and foremost Mark needs to get himself fit.  “Of course a fit Mark Noon is what we want at the club. We’ve had a brief conversation and Mark is understanding and realistic about the situation and what he expects.

“But it’s paramount that Mark gets himself fit and on the football field, however long that takes. Yes I want him around me because he’s always willing to help out and had a great association with me as well.

“He’s got other strings to his bow other than playing because he’s a clever and talented lad who can add something to what we’re about.

“I’d like to think there is a contract there for him if he can prove his fitness.

“It wouldn’t be right for the club to be entering into contract talks at this stage because Mark’s got to gain his fitness first and foremost and get back and get games, and we’ll help him with that. And as soon as Mark feels he’s ready to push himself to work towards the first team then we’ll talk to him about that.

“I don’t want to get ahead of the game. I don’t want to talk it down and I don’t want to talk it up. He’s got a lot of hard work to do to get to where he needs to be and he knows that.

“We have to cross those bridges before we start sitting down talking about a new contract and deals and the like. Whatever help and assistance we can give him to get fit we will do."
