City linked with move for Bolton striker
Danny Ward to make loan move to Coventry? Coventry City have been linked with a move to take teenage Bolton striker Danny Ward on loan, with a deal to be completed within the next week. Ward spent last season on loan at Swindon Town where he made 28 appearances and scored nine goals, but has only played for his parent club at senior level twice. The 18 year old, who can play as a striker or on the left wing, started his career with the Leeds youth side before joining Bolton Wanderers in 2007. Sources close to the player have said that Ward is attracting the attention of several clubs from the Championship and League 1. Coventry City and Milwall are the leading contenders for the signature of Ward, but Swindon Town are keen on having the lad back again during the new season. Two other Championship clubs, Preston and Cardiff have also been linked with Ward, but it now appears that The Sky Blues or Milwall will win the race for him and it is likely that a deal will be done by the end of the week. Bolton manager Owen Coyle has omitted Ward from his side's Carling Cup game tonight at Southampton so as not to cup tie the player, even though City are already out of the competition. Coyle said, “The likelihood is we will be letting Danny Ward go out on loan later this week so I wouldn’t want to cup tie him.”
