City Ladies Beat Villa

Coventry City Ladies beat Aston Villa 2-1 to book their place in the Birmingham County Womens FA Cup Final.

At Westwood Heath, in what was a repeat of last year's final which City won 1-0, the Sky Blues lost captain Natasha Lynch to injury in the first half but took the lead when Karen Clough cut in from left and squared. It was half cleared and fell for Helen Dermody whose through ball was driven into far corner into the far corner of the net by Courtney Sweetman-Kirk.

It was then mostly one way traffic with the Sky Blues playing into an increasingly strong wind, but they still looked lively on the break.

However, Villa equalised when a long ball and back header by Carly Davis and it looped over Wood and into the net.

City battled on and were awarded a penalty whilst Petrovic was sent off. Helen Dermody stepped up and scored. The referee order the kick to be retaken and Dermody netted again to send the Sky Blues into the Final for the second year running

City then lost Nat Wilcox and Nat Reay to hamstring injuries.
