City Ladies Win At Derby

Coventry City Ladies  are through to the Quarter-Final knockout stages of the League Cup after winning 4-0 at Derby County in their final group fixture.

City travelled to Borrowash Victoria, needing to better Nottingham Forest's 3-1 win over Derby County to progress to the next round of the WPL League Cup.

It was all City in the opening ten minutes with Derby surviving a penalty shout with two handed block from a Maz Gauntlett strike.

Dermody and Anderson fired wide before City took the lead thanks to an inswinging cross from Dermody was met by Maz Gauntlett, who glanced a 26th minute header into the roof of the net.

In the 55th minute, Destiny Toussaint was sent on and she was involved straight away using her pace to get into the box and square for Ashley Neville to make it 2-0.

Going into the final quarter of the game, City were all over Derby, looking to get the goals that would send them through.

Becky Anderson thumped the bar and when she got the ball again. This time from a Helen Dermody cross from the edge of the box, she was able to stroke it into the net before Helen Dermody sent a left footed strike into the roof of the net for City's fourth.
