City Ladies Face Cardiff At The Ricoh Arena

City To Face Cardiff Coventry City Ladies will line up at the Ricoh Arena for the second time this season, as they take on Cardiff City in the FA Women's Premier League Southern Division on Sunday afternoon.

There will also be ex-professionals who wore the Sky Blue shirt of days gone by attending the game, and will be holding a Q+A session afterwards in the Legends Lounge, along with players from the Ladies team.

Last month’s proposal to move their first game of the season to the currently-vacant Ricoh Arena proved to be a popular decision, as they clinched a comfortable 2-0 victory over Lewes, and they’ll be hoping for a similar scoreline when they lock horns with the Welsh side this weekend.

Cardiff City – alongside Portsmouth and Charlton Athletic – are the only three teams this season that appeared beside Coventry City in the FA Women's Premier League National Division in the last campaign, before the split into regional divisions over the summer.

Coventry clinched a 2-1 home victory over the Bluebirds last November, courtesy of Courtney Sweetman-Kirk’s last-minute winner, before Helen Dermody and Karen Clough gave the Sky Blues a more straightforward 2-0 win in the reverse fixture in April.

The opening day victory over Lewes, coupled with last Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion Ladies leaves the Sky Blues in fifth position after two games in the FA Women's Premier League Southern Division.

New manager Craig Nicholls admitted prior to the draw that it is vital that the club get a “good start” to ensure they live up to the stature as one of the favourites for the title. However, it will be the matches against the likes of Cardiff and Portsmouth which could well decide their fate come the end of the season.

The match will take place on Sunday 15th September at the Ricoh Arena, and will kick-off at 2pm with doors opening at 12.30pm. Tickets are priced at £5.50 for adults and £3.30 for under 16s, and can be purchased from www.theticketfactory.com.

Alternatively you can purchase tickets at the Ricoh Arena box office. Parking will be available at £2. Access to the ground will be through the main atrium.
