City Ladies beaten

Coventry City Ladies went down to a very late 1-0 defeat at Watford in a Women's Premier League fixture this afternoon.

At Berkhampsted FC, Chris Holloway fielded a side without a number of key players due to injuries. But they started brightly and an ankle tap brought s down Hayley Ladd, and from the free kick, Helen Dermody sent the ball inches wide.

Watford started to control the game but City broke and goal machine Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, who scored four goals in the Sky Blues last competitive match shot just over the bar in a half which finished goal-less.

Both sides continued to go for it in the second half. City plied on the pressure forcing Davey into some great saves but in stoppage time, Watford nicked a goal through Teasdale and took the three points. 

City team: Wood, Miles, Ladd, Lynch, Hollingsworth, Wilcox, Formaston, Barber, Sweetman-Kirk, Dermody, Dale (Toussaint 75). Subs: Clough, Anderson, Clarke.

City Ladies Reserve game at Nottingham Forest was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
