City Former Players Association Issue Statement

Statement Regarding Current City Situation

‘Coventry City Former Players Association is a organisation independent of the Club (and hitherto able to work on good terms with all its staff). We would prefer this to continue.

At the Association’s last committee meeting we were so concerned about the potentially profound impact the Club’s proposed groundshare arrangements would have on our ability to fully meet our aims and objectives and maintain the quality of service to the former players of CCFC that we decided to seek feedback from as many of our members as we could in a short time.

Our members (and Associate members) are clearly as disappointed as everybody else with the decision to move away from the Ricoh which will undeniably make our job as a FPA very difficult.

Every single one of the Former Players replying to our email poll said they would not be prepared to attend the Club’s ‘home’ matches if played away from the City. This response alone puts into question many of the functions CCFPA normally provides the Club and its supporters on matchdays.

However, we would like to reassure all our members and Sky Blue supporters that we will continue to do as much as we can to continue the work we do to the best of our abilities in these difficult times especially to bring FPs and supporters together, to celebrate the history of CCFC and remember what has made our club so important to the supporters and the whole area of Coventry during the past 130 years.

We want CCFPA to remain a positive in these testing times for the club’
