Pressley Wanting Permanent Deals

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley is not interested in taking Blackburn Rovers winger Fabio Nunes on loan.

Pressley had been looking to get the 21 year old on a permant deal if he could have got out of his Blackburn contract and become a free agent but that did not happen and the City boss has said that he is not after loan players.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “There is interest but not in respect of us moving to take him on loan because that’s not necessarily the case.

“The situation is that Nunes was a player who, prior to the window closing, we were interested in but it didn’t materialise.

“There’s obviously speculation out there but I haven’t made any decision on whether we will go back and take the player on loan because the truth is I am not the biggest fan of loan players.

“And any player who comes into the club just now, because of the way we are playing, would certainly not go straight into the team. They would have to come to the club and fight for their place, and the problem you get with loan players when you are taking them from higher league clubs is that they come to you to play.

“And I can’t guarantee any loan player the opportunity to play at this club and loan players don’t want to come to a club and not be playing.

"So that’s one of the problems I have with certain loan players because I couldn’t, at this moment in time, remove any one of my starting 11 from the team, and I wouldn’t do that because it’s not correct with what they have been giving us. This is the difficulty for me and the loan market.

“So I am mostly interested in permanent deals because any player who comes in would understand the situation.”
