Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has backed the players in his team who wore rainbow coloured laces in heir boots during Saturday's game with Port Vale.
City, along with every side in the Premier, Football and Scottish League were sent pairs of rainbow coloured laces for every player as part of a campaign "Right Behind Gay Footballers" by gay rights campaign group Stonewall.
Skipper Carl Baker, Blair Adams and Andy Webster wore the laces on the day and City manager Steven Pressley said: "The message of trying to remove homophobia from the game is something that we as a club fully support and I was more than happy to give my backing to players that chose to wear the laces if they wished to do so.
"We all need to continue working to make sure that football is an enviroment that welcomes everybody so if this has gone some way to promoting that then it's something that we are pleased to be able to have taken part in."
