Carsley Looking For A Better New Year

Captain's comments Coventry City captain Lee Carsley wants a better New Year for the Sky Blues. The 36 year old told the CT: "It was a very disappointing result against QPR but we have to take the positives out of the game and I thought the first half was decent."I said two or three months ago that we have to make sure we score goals when we are on top in games."We are proud of the fact that we have scored in the majority of our games this season and Clive Platt and Richard Wood both had good chances."We started well enough in the second half but then conceded a poor goal which we will have to look at again on the video because it was too easy the way they got round the back."Adel Taarabt created a bit of space for himself to set up the second and he's a good player so they are always going to be times in the game when he is going to do a bit and he got more and more into it."But when you have the cushion of a goal you do seem to get more chances. The tempo and the way we had a real go was good in the first half but we need to start being a 95 minute team not a 45 minute team."I think it is fair to say we have struggled in the last few matches. Cardiff was a bit of a wake up call and we had a postive reaction to it in the first forty minutes against QPR."But we all know what this league is like and there's still a long way to go and we're pretty much in the shake up."We're still striving for consistency. We know we lost three on the bounce before and then went on to win the next three and not concede a goal for four games, so that just about sums up our season so far."Picture copyright of Covsupport News Service.
