Nathan on playing Nathan Cameron has admitted that he is surprised as anyone to be in the Coventry City first team ahead of James McPake and Richard Wood. The captain of City U18's last season, Cameron impressed the new City boss and support during pre-season and has done well in his three league matches so far.Speaking to the CT's Alan Poole, the Birmingham born defender said: "If you had told me six weeks ago this was going to happen I don't know what I would have said."The manager has instilled a lot of confidence in me and hopefully that will continue and he'll keep picking me."I had a good pre-season - I didn't go to Austria but I worked hard when the boys came back and I thought I did well in the friendlies I played in - and now I'm in the side I will just play my game and keep my head straight."I think the gaffer sees me as an out and out defender, staying back frrom free kicks and corners and James and Woody have given me plenty of help because they are great professionals."The two year scholarship forced me to come out of character and being captain of the U18's meant I had to take more responsibility."I have tried to bring that into the first team because you need that in the back line - we've got a few talkers and the more you communicate the better."
