Boothroyd wants City to take control

Aidy Boothroyd wants to see his Coventry side carry a stronger influence on the pitch after watching the way Cardiff went about their business on Tuesday night. The Bluebirds came away from the Ricoh Arena with a narrow 2-1 victory but it was the way in which they took a hold of the game that Boothroyd wants his players to emulate. And he pointed to Neil Warnock and his sides as masters of the trade. "I can remember a game very similar when I was at Watford and we played Sheffield United," said the Sky Blues boss. "Sheffield United were very experienced, had Neil Warnock, had been up and around the Championship for a long time. We were green and naive, just coming together. "We went 2-0 up and got all excited with ourselves and we lost 3-2, it was a massive, massive lesson about understanding professionalism. I`ll be very careful how I say this, Neil Warnock and his teams are masters at influence and we got a lesson that day, and we did again on Tuesday night I think. "We weren`t influential enough on the game, on officials, we were too respectful and we have to learn quick because you get punished in this league." He added: "We`ll start by showing clips of the video and discussing how we watch the game rather than partaking in it."
