Boothroyd waits on fitness tests

Who will be fit for Leicester? Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd will give fitness tests to several of his players before naming his team to face Leicester City at The Walkers Stadium on Saturday. The tall striker Clive Platt is him main injury concern, but midfielder Sammy Clingan is also likely to miss out on a start, although he could be o the bench. If both players fail their fitness tests, then Boothroyd is likely to name the same starting eleven that lost at home to Swansea in midweek. One player who impressed his manager was David Bell and it is probabale that he has done enough to earn a starting place. Gary McSheffrey and Freddy Eastwood are both fit and eager to start again after being left out of the side for a few games. City boss Boothroyd was impressed with the way Bell played against Swansea Saying, “We’re all judged on our actions and Belly made a massive statement against Swansea.” “He’s a player who has got lots of quality but, for me, the most enjoyable part of his performance was when there was a little 50/50 in the air and he stuck his head in to win it." “You don’t necessarily associate him with that. You think about him beating his man, crossing or scoring a spectacular goal, but as with Freddy and Gary, it’s important to see the other side of the game that he might not enjoy but has to be done. “That’s where we are with those guys. They get disappointed but they are very, very good Championship players and if they can consistently apply themselves, even when they’re not playing particularly well  they’ve got a lot more chance of playing. “It’s the same with a defender who might not want to put his foot on the ball. I read Richard Wood’s article in the programme where he said ‘if you want to see a flair player it’s generally when the ball’s away from me, but he’s got to be able to put his foot on the ball, to pass it, because you have to stretch your comfort zones.” He added, “Belly’s a nice kid, they all are. Anybody can go in the paper and say this and say they’re going to do this or that, but it’s doing it what counts." "Just like Carl Baker did earlier in the season when he wasn’t in the team. He came to me and said ‘what have I got to do’ showed me his stats and made his argument in the right way." “I said ‘go on, then show me’ and he has. Belly did the same thing  although he didn’t go into the same statistical detail as Carl  and he’s got his opportunity and done ever so well.”
