Includes loan signings Aidy Boothroyd has revealed that he could add up to ten players to his existing 15 strong senior professional squad. He hopes to make the first of his signings next week, maybe even two and it is his intention to make these signings ones which will excite the fans.Boothroyd returned from a family holiday recently and has been hard at work negotiating with players and agents.Boothroyd said to the CT: "I would like to have someone in within the next week and my first signing, I think, is an important one because I think it sends a message about the calibre we are looking at. I am looking to bring someone in next week and if I can get two in then all the better. Hopefully we will be in a position to do that."// ');// ]]>The permanent signings will most likely be quality Championship capable players, continuing the policy of signing young, lower league players with great potential, but Boothroyd is keen not to make similar mistakes by underwhelming the fans with unknown names. He will try to bring in some players who will excite the fans. The players who Boothroyd will try to get in on loan deals are to be what he calls X-Factor players from high profile clubs. He is keen to find Premiership strikers to fill this role in an attempt to address the poor form in front of the goal the team has suffered in the previous few seasons.Boothroyd revealed he has been inundated with offers of players from all over the world, but he is only after those who he thinks can do the business on the field and has set in motion a process to attract them to The Ricoh."I have been away on holiday but that doesn't mean I stop picking up the phone and at this time of year agents work out very quickly who is on the phone and who is not," said Boothroyd. "Someone obviously set the rumour about that I am working and consequently I have been inundated with players from Azerbaijan all the way to Kenya.""A lot of them are time wasters but you can't not take a call because it is important that you listen to what people have got to say. So there are a lot of calls to field but, generally, the hares have been set and are off and running, and it is just a matter of chairman meeting chairman and speaking to each other because most of the work is generally done with who we want.""I have been with Andy Thorn this week going through the targets we set up three weeks ago and what we need because we pretty much need to build a squad because we have only got 15 players."" I am looking at possibly ten new players, depending on what we have got and what we can bring in, but I would rather get six quality players than ten players that are similar to what we have got already, and I don't mean that disrespectfully, but we obviously need something a bit different otherwise we are going to finish 21st rather than 17th or 19th again.""So we have to adapt to the circumstances and the way I want to play and what I want to achieve this year, we have got to do something different."
