Aidy Boothroyd has spoken of his "deep disappointment" at not being given time to finish the job he had started at Coventry. Boothroyd was sacked as manager on Monday after just 10 months in charge following a run of only one win from City`s last 16 npower Championship matches. In a statement released through the League Managers Association, Boothroyd highlighted the injury problems that blighted his tenure but also said it had been a "privilege" to manage the club. "I am deeply disappointed to be leaving Coventry City," he said. "Last Christmas I took the club to its highest league position for several years and, since then, we have had to endure a period of injuries and suspensions to seven key players, during which time we have played most of the top teams in the league. "However, at the present time nearly all the players are back to full fitness and the squad, along with me and my coaching staff, was together, fully focused and working hard towards a strong finish to the end of the season. "It`s a shame that I haven`t been given the chance to take the club back up the league table where we were at the turn of the year, but it has been a privilege to manage at a club with such a rich history and tradition and I wish them well for the future."
