Boothroyd resorts to prayer to sign King
City boss desperate to get King on board before Saturday Aidy Boothroyd, having tried all other avenues to get the controversial striker Marlon King into his Coventry City side, has now resorted to prayer. The City boss has claimed he has no idea what is causing the the hold up, but he is desperate to have King in his side in time for the trip to Bristol this Saturday. Bothroyd also poured scorn on the recent rumours that King will be going to Nottingham Forest if he cannot sign for Coventry City soon. “The hold up is beyond my control and I can’t give you a clue what that hold up is because I haven’t got a clue myself," said Bothroyd. “Everybody wants him here, and I’m hoping and praying that we can get him here soon because we need him. He’s a winner and he would massively add to a very strong squad, as long as everybody in that squad applies themselves for the whole game." "In the second half we stopped a very good team playing, played some football ourselves and mixed things up, but in the first half we looked lost and that’s disappointing because to get out of this league you’ve got to be consistent. In the first half we showed what’s not good about us and in the second we showed what is good." “You can’t turn it on and off like a light switch. Talent doesn’t mean anything unless you apply yourselves and when you come to places like this you have to make a statement about who you are and what you’re about, and it took us 45 minutes to introduce ourselves to Swansea. That’s not acceptable to me. I don’t think anybody from Coventry City should be overawed by anybody from Swansea." "I know they have established a reputation, a brand of good football, but I thought we made them look very average in the second half; we were the better team and created the better chances, but there’s no point in getting excited afterwards because we did all right for half the game.” Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers said, “I thought we were good value for the win and could have had more goals, especially in the first half, but at 2-1 against a good team you’re always a little bit nervous. It was a massive win against a side who have got an outstanding manager and are going to be up there this season.”
