Boothroyd pleased with first impressions
City boss happy with fitness Coventry City manager Aidy Bothroyd is delighted with his players attitude and fitness during the first two days of pre season training. Boothroyd said: "Nowadays you are a footballer 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and the bad old days of going to pub on a Wednesday and Saturday have gone." "This is about building fitness and very much working on tactical work because once the season starts it is just a case of playing and then recovering." "The new players have done well and are fitting in. The fact we have already been able to bring them in so early is fantastic and it shows the support I have been getting from the chairman and the board. Normally you are messing around waiting for people to make decisions, but that has not been the case here. Two or three more and I think we will be somewhere right." Boothroyd had his most successful spell as a manager while he was at Watford where he gained promotion to the Premiership, said he was aware of the potential of what Coventry City could achieve at the Ricoh Arena. He said,"The one thing I see clearly here is potential, enormous potential. A lot of hard work has gone on behind the scenes in terms of the infrastructure, the involvement of SISU and the development of the academy."
