Boothroyd not planning to sell Cranie

Defender Martin Cranie still figures in Coventry manager Aidy Boothroyd's plans for the new season. Despite speculation that the 23-year-old former Pompey man may be on his way to Norwich, Boothroyd insists that no approach had been made by the Canaries. Cranie, who normally plays as a centre-half, has been earning rave reviews since he has been deployed as a defensive midfielder by Boothroyd in pre-season. "I have not had a single call and neither has the chairman so as far as we are concerned it is just speculation and rumour, which you get a lot of at this time of the year." Boothroyd told the Coventry Telegraph. "Martin is a fantastic player to have in your squad because he can play in so many different positions. "And playing in midfield he looks like he has played there all his career. It is a little bit different but it is another string to his bow."
