Boothroyd keen to keep King

Aidy Boothroyd is determined to keep Marlon King at Coventry beyond the end of this season. The striker signed a deal with the Sky Blues in September which runs until June and, having battled through injury and suspension, is finally starting to show the kind of form he is capable of with three goals in his last three games. And Boothroyd, who also revealed he did not come close to bolstering his ranks on transfer deadline day, said: "Very much so I`ve started looking at beyond this season, I think we`ve got to keep all our best players." Asked whether King has been offered a new contract yet, Boothroyd, speaking on Wednesday, replied: "That will be a board decision and my recommendation would be `absolutely`. "Tie him down and do it because he`s a terrific player and he`s shown that - whether he`s playing badly, well or indifferent - his work-rate is outstanding and that`s what I expect from my players and that`s why he works the way he does because we`ve been together for such a long time. "Yes, I would be hopeful he would stay. He likes working with me and I like working with him so if there`s something to be done there, then we perhaps would do well to act on it."
