Squad getting back to strength Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd is hoping that Danny Ward, David Bell, James McPake and Michael McIndoe will all return to training on Wednesday after recovering from injuries. Fourteen City players were receiving treatment last week and while the return to fitness of the the four players will be welcomed by Boothroyd, he will be without striker Freddy Eastwood for up to two months after he had a knee operation yesterday. To help compensate for the loss of one striker, another in the shape of Marlon King, joined the Sky Blue ranks yesterday and will, subject to FA and Football League registration and approval, go straight into the Coventry side to face Preston North End at The Ricoh on Saturday. Boothroyd revealed that competition for starting places in the Sky Blues side is intense and the players are trying even harder to impress during training.  He said, “Training has gone up a notch which is important because I want everyone working exceptionally hard and then we taper off and get ready for the games on a Saturday and a Tuesday.” “Competition for places can only be a good thing and the more good players we have got the greater the competition will be because no one can rest on their laurels because if they do they know that there is someone waiting and champing at the bit to come into the team.” Boothroyd now has to decide who to pick as his strike force. The choice of fit players is Clive Platt, Lukas Jutkiewicz and Marlon King.
