Boothroyd the father figure New Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has said that he is going to get more personal with his players. Some managers including Chris Coleman told their players where to play and what to do on the pitch but Boothroyd has intimated that he will try a different approach by speaking to players on a one to one basis in order to try and get the best out of them."There are a lot of guys I need to get to know and I think I manage best when I am talking to them on a one-on-one basis," Boothroyd said to the CT."I will get to know what their habits are, what their girlfriends do and everything else about them because that's important - little things like that make a big difference when it comes down to it.//'); //]]>"Players are human beings, a lot of them family men, and I always try to treat them as individuals and help them with any problems or concerns they might have. "But at the same time they have got to realise that they are professionals and there are high standards expected if they want to get better results than they got before."I wouldn't say they are in for a shock, exactly, but I think they are in for something a little bit different."When I see the way that they dress these days, with those daft big headphones and their hats the wrong way round, it makes me feel a lot older."I've always liked working with young players - that's how I started off as a coach at Peterborough, Norwich and West Brom - and Coventry have obviously got a lot of promising kids on their books."Nobody can play well for 46 games - at some point in the season you'll have a terrific run and at some point you go on a slump and wonder if you are ever going to win again."There are times when you have to play in the mud and howling winds; there are times when you get back from a tough midweek match at 3.00am and you have to be ready to start again the next day. "As in any league you can't play sexy football all of the time - sometimes you have to play horrible football because one of the big secrets is learning how to win when you don't play well or even win when you play really badly."I love watching Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea and Everton because they all play differently and you can learn something from all of them. "But you have to make decisions on what you have got and work with the ability that you have got, and we have got the opportunity now."
