Booth Gets New Years Day City Game

Referee announced The currently appointed referee for Coventry City's Championship fixture against Ipswich Town is Russell Booth of Nottinghamshire. Mr Booth started refereeing in 1984 in Mansfield and he got into refereeing due to not wanting to play on Saturday and Sundays but still wanted to be part of the game. He joined the Assistant Referees list in 1998. Six years later, he was promoted to the National Referees list.This will be his fifth Championship game of the season. He has had 11 matches so far and shown 23 yellow cards and one red. His last City game was the 1-0 win at Peterborough last season and he was the referee the last time Ipswich visited the Ricoh Arena in August 2009 when a brace from Clinton Morrison gave City a 2-1 win.Previous City matches are: the 3-2 home defeat to Watford in April 2009 and the 3-2 defeat at Preston in February 2005. His assistants are Andy Hendley from Birmingham & Dave Plowright from Nottinghamshire. The Fourth Official is Steve Martin from Staffordshire.
