Bellamy To Return To Cardiff As A Player Not A Manager

City Old Boy News Former Coventry City forward Craig Bellamy is expected to reject a chance to coach or manage Cardiff City but welcomes a return to the City of Cardiff Stadium as a player. Bellamy had been the bookies favourite for the job and was also wanted by Cardiff's Malaysian backers after the sacking of Dave Jones on Monday. However, the Welsh international wants to play instead Cardiff chief executive Gethin Jenkins admitted to the South Wales Echo that talks had taken place to try and get Bellamy for another year as a player but the chances of him returning as a coach were unlikely “I don’t think it [a coaching role] is likely at the minute,” said Jenkins. “We’d love to have Craig back as a player but we’ll see what happens. “He has indicated he would like to play again for Cardiff next season and if that happens it will be fantastic. We will sit down and have a chat with Manchester City and his agent once we have a manager."
