Baggies Will Be A Tough Test - Boothroyd
Boothroyd on final pre-season game Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has said this afternoon's final pre-season game against West Bromwich Albion will be a tough test for his players.Boothroyd aims to be the first manager since George Curtis and John Sillett in 1986/87 to be in charge of City through an unbeaten pre-season and he told the CT: "All the pre-season games are a test. "We have mixed and matched and had some really tough games because a lot of the time we trained during the day as well. I wanted the players to be fatigued, to get used to that mental pressure of having to work to win when you're tired."West Brom will be different because we are at home and we will be reasonably fresh, so we can prepare for them in the same way as we will out first league game. The aim has always been to make sure we peak when we play Portsmouth next week rather than in any pre-season game."West Brom are a Premiership team now and it will be a very difficult game but for us, it will be a good measure to see how we shaping up with a week to go."I think we are a fair way off where we need to be in terms of being a consistent, winning outfit but then I think everyone else will be saying that as well. "We all just want to get the season started and it will be good to see us against West Brom who have a terrific record in the Championship in recent years and are back in the promised land for a season maybe more."Albion have got some terrific players and are a club that have been well managed over the years. Financially, they are a model to a lot of other clubs who have gone bust or had problems and therefore we have got to look at that and see if we can emulate that."We have got to get up first of all, and that could take some time but in terms of a football match, it will be a terrific game for us. It will be good for me to get used to what the stadium is like and it will be good for the players to come up against Premiership players."Tickets are priced at £11 adults, £11 disabled and carer, £8 concessions and £3 juniors.
