Ben Turner signs new contract with City Coventry City central defender Ben Turner has extended his contract with the club for another three and a half years. The 22 year old Coventry City academy graduate has played more than 80 games for Coventry since he made his debut as a 17 year old in 2006 and has blossomed this year into a vital member of Boothroyd's revitalised team. Turner has scored four goals for City this season as well as being a stalwart in the middle of a very mean defence, but has been out of action for seven weeks after damaging his knee ligaments against Leeds. City boss Aidy Boothroyd was full of praise for the big defender saying, “I can only talk about this season, but Ben has matured into a magnificent player." // '); // ]]> “He’s got the size, the ability in the air and he’s tidy with his feet as well. With his talent and physical presence he’s a guy that can go on and become very, very big in the game.” Boothroyd is now hoping that with Turner committing himself to the club until the summer of 2014, it will help encourage Westwood and Gunnarsson to follow suit and agree to sign their new contracts.
