Alvis and Bolehall Swifts contest the Coventry Charity Football Cup Final at the Ricoh Arena tonight.
Alvis, who had a first round bye, beat Coventry Copsewood 2-1, Dunlop 5-0 and Southam United 3-2 in a thrilling Semi-Final at Coventry Sphinx FC after extra time, on their way to the Ricoh whilst Tamworth based Bolehall Swifts have beaten Stockton 4-1, Jet Blades 4-0, Hawkesmill Sports 7-0 and Folly Lane 1-0 with a Thompson goal in stoppage time to book their place in the Final.
A good crowd approaching a thousand, at the Ricoh Arena saw Damian Cassidy's side straight on the attack with a Leon Kelly shot after just sixteen seconds winning a corner.
A second followed four minutes later and was met by Christian Jordan who volleyed wide.
Leon Kelly fired wide in the seventh minute and Bolehall who are ten places above Alvis got to gear with first Matt Ball firing wide and then Karl Roach making a tremendous one handed save to keep out a Conor Fulford shot which bounced on the goal-line.
Alvis in their sky blue kit fielded former Coventry City forward Patrick Suffo and the Cameroonian curled wide with a shot on the turn.
Jamie Abbott rammed into the side netting. Alvis attacked and they were awarded a penalty when Tom Starkey was spotted to have shoved.
Patrick Suffo stepped up to take the spot kick but hit a tame penalty which McNulty easily got down to and had under control at the second attempt.
In the 26th minute, Alvis had Tommy McGuire for what appeared to be spitting at Daniel Hales.
Alvis did not let their lack of numbers disadvantage them and a 32nd minute free kick was met by Patrick Suffo who hit the bar of the North Stand goal before Kelly hooked the rebound over the bar.
Daniel Hales headed over a free kick, Suffo fired over, Kelly won a 41st minute free kick, Nick Heath sent over a telling cross and Suffo slammed a free kick into the wall before deep in stoppage time, a Calvin Thompson shot was blocked and Kelly followed up before it was cleared.
Two minutes into the second half, James Abbott fired wide from a corner.
Alvis countered and Luke O'Kane sent over a deep cross for Christian Jordan to head past McNulty and give the Midland Combination Division One leaders the lead.
In the 57th minute, Alvis went two goals up when Steve Evans got the ball some twenty yards out and sent a thunderous drive looping over McNulty.
Swifts boss Daran Fulford immediately made two changes to try and get back in the match and they were not far away with a 63rd minute James Abbott free kick and a Nathan Thompson shot which Roach got down to.
Roach saved from Carpenter before Swifts made their final change and Dean Kimberlin came on for the Green Lane based side.
Colby Macadams, who was the final Bolehall substitute just missed Roach's left hand post with a 79th minute free kick.
Alvis used their final substitute after Hales had somehow headed over from two yards and held on to win the cup.
